What we thought

Coles I’m Free From Traditional White Loaf was a pleasant surprise, landing in the top three of our taste test. Among the homebrand options from Coles, Woolworths, and Aldi, it stood out for having the softest, most pliable texture—great news for those who miss the feel of regular bread.

That said, the loaf isn’t without its flaws. The shape was uneven, with one side squashed in. While fine for toast or a quick kid’s sammie, it’s not ideal for toasted sandwiches or neat club sandwiches.

Good bread, but the irregular shape wasn’t ideal for toasties.

If texture is your priority, Coles I’m Free From offers one of the best value options. It’s not perfect in appearance or packaging, but it delivers where it counts: softness and everyday usability.

Flavour-wise, it’s mild and inoffensive. A faint starchy aftertaste lingers, but it’s subtle enough not to spoil the overall experience.

The packaging, could use an upgrade. It’s tricky to open and not ideal for resealing. That’s also a complaint with the Aldi and Woolworths gluten free breads.
